WilmU's public pages are specific about the courses: the catalog lists 175 hours each for Family Practicum I to III and 225 for Family Practicum IV, and the same pattern for the PMHNP practicums. They are just as clear on the conditions: current CPR, RN licensure for the state where the clinical happens, and clinical credentialing clearance through the College's designated system before the course starts.

The public site says nothing about how preceptors are arranged; WilmU points students to a program handbook for details such as credentialing timing. Delaware's Board of Nursing rules for APRN programs ask for a preceptor with an active, unencumbered APRN, PA, pharmacist or physician license in a comparable practice focus, oriented to the course objectives. We check that before a name ever reaches you, along with the RN license rule for the state where you will train.

Big systems add their own steps. ChristianaCare, Bayhealth and Beebe all run student onboarding through Clinician Nexus, and TidalHealth asks for requests at least 90 days out. We plan around those timelines, whether you train in Delaware or in any state on WilmU's licensure table.

WilmU's public pages do not say who arranges NP preceptors. They refer students to a program handbook that is not posted publicly, and the NP Program Chair can confirm how it works for your track. How many clinical hours does WilmU's MSN-FNP need?

750 clinical hours, including planned simulation: 175 each in GRN 7121, GRN 7122 and GRN 7123, and 225 in GRN 7124 Family Practicum IV. Older catalogs listed 600 and then 700, so check the catalog year you entered under.

Can I do WilmU clinicals outside Delaware?

WilmU's NP pages require RN licensure for the state in which the clinical experience occurs, and its licensure table lists the MSN-FNP as meeting requirements in most states. A few, such as New York and Tennessee, are marked Not Determined Yet, so confirm your state with WilmU first.

What does WilmU need before my first practicum?

Clinical credentialing clearance through the College's designated credentialing system, which covers the background check and drug screen, plus current CPR certification and an RN license for the state where you will train. The program handbook sets exactly when each item is due.
